Mike will need no introduction to our oboists, many of whom will have gratefully played on his high quality reeds.  As a player he was principal with the Halle and the Philharmonia and a regular session musician on recordings and broadcasts.  He is also one of the most respected oboe tutors in the country having taught many of today's musicians.

He maintains a course tradition of our tutors having had direct links with some of the great 20th Century composers.  As a  young member of the Halle Wind Quintet he played in  the first English  performance of Hindemith's Kleine Kammermusic in the presence of the man himself.  His experience of the chamber repertoire  is such that he is able to speak with authority on its interpretation.
